Mother Nature goes wild

I was starling to complain about the frigid air that has taken hold of the Big Horn Basin, but decided maybe we were lucky after all. Imagine being from Louisiana and Texas with blizzards in both locations. Lights out, roads closed, schools closed. Nothing but “white stuff” knee deep.

While we aren’t exactly living in the “banana belt,” neither are we suffering under blizzard conditions.

However, the cold finally got to Jett, who is always ready to get his sled out and take to the mountains. However, just a week ago, with some tourists signed up for a guide, he was heard to comment, “It’s too cold!!!” Of course, that was not a good answer and he went atop the Big Horns and guided.

When I heard that, I told him, “Hell must have frozen over,” as that is the only thing that could possibly ground him.

As for me, I just stay in my warm house. I got cold just watching the football games from the comfort of my living room.  The stadiums were filled, of course.  You couldn’t have paid me enough to sit in those cold stands.

Must be my age catching up with me.  I do remember traveling to Laramie with John’s brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Wilma, and watching the cowboys on a frigid “not quite winter day, yet,” brushing five or six inches of snow off the bleachers - and actually enjoying it. Aaah, to be that young again. I got smarter as I aged, that’s for sure.

But I do plan to enjoy the Super Bowl looming in the future.  Then, and only then, can I turn to college basketball and “get into it.” I take one sport at a time - kind of like I take one season at a time.

And I finally said goodbye to my Christmas Tree. Joni took it downstairs, still fully decorated, and sat it on its stand down there.

I will be glad to trade Christmas carols for “Put on Your Easter Bonnet.”
