Businesses and organizations didn’t require a lot of convincing to get back on board with the National Night Out observance in Greybull. The event was scrapped last year for budget reasons, killing the momentum generated in years one and two.
It’s returned this summer.
“We’re up to 65 businesses that have either signed up or said they’d be willing to donate,” said Cat Wiekhorst, who is coordinating the Aug. 6 event in her role as a member of the Greybull Police Department. “Two years ago, we had 55, and the first year, we had 35, so it’s growing.”
The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m. in the city park.
A promotional flyer promises food, vendors, games, prizes and lots of activities.
“A lot of people were disappointed that we weren’t able to do it last year,” said Wiekhorst. “I think it’s contributed to the excitement we’re sensing this year. This is a good community event.
