Porters celebrate 50 years together
Jim and Connie Porter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 18, 2024.
This milestone was celebrated with family and friends at a party hosted by their daughters, Brandy Olson and Jaime Gieser. The girls planned a western themed gala with a catered meal and three-tiered cake, featuring the original cake topper from the wedding. The tables were decorated with personal items belonging to the couple and framed photos highlighting their 50 years together.
Family members shared tributes to the couple. There was a slideshow of memories and their grandson, Ty Epperson, shared the highlights of events since the two first met at Greybull Middle School.
After marrying in 1974, Jim and Connie lived in Greybull, then moved to Buffalo, then to San Diego in 1990. For the past 34 years, the couple has lived in the Langley, Okla., area. During their years together, they have proven to be true entrepreneur, having started and run multiple businesses together including Porter Construction, Olde World Cabinetry & Millwork, Lakewood Cabinetry, Lakewood Ace Hardware, Lazy J Ranch with a small cow-calf operation, and Port Pro, LLC, offering contracting, consulting and engineering.
The couple enjoys gardening, taking care of their orchard and homestead, hosting a Bible study group and having coffee on their front porch. They adore their grandchildren Ty, Tia and Grant and enjoy spending time with their family.
While the Jim and Connie have spent most of their married lives in Oklahoma, several family members remain in the area, including Jim’s father Jerry Porter, who lives in Basin, and Connie’s brothers Mike of Greybull, Tim (and wife Sharon) of Shell and Jeff (and wife Jep) of Greybull and sister Terry of Greybull.
