School board: State ‘stealing’ donated money

A topic of lively discussion at Big Horn County School District No. 3’s May 12 school board meeting was a piece of the state’s recent school recalibration, which suggests that half of interest earned on all district accounts could be returned to the state by cutting it from the next year’s school funding. Accounts managed by the district accumulate an estimated $260,000 a year in interest, which would result in a $130,000 budget cut next year.
