With dozens of great silent auction items to bid on, a taco bar and drinks to enjoy, this year’s Margaritaville fundraiser did not disappoint.
Saturday evening’s event was a fundraiser for the Shell Community Hall, which has hosted gatherings of all types and sizes since its construction in the 1930s.
Mary Whaley, who serves on the hall’s board of directors, said the event went “very well. We had a lot of nice silent auction items ... and a very good turnout.”
The hall board uses the money generated by the fundraiser for utilities and upkeep.  With what was raised last year, the board was able to re-stain the outside of the hall, complete some interior finish work, improve the steps to the double doors and install new toilets.
Whaley said more of the same type of improvements are planned for the coming year using money that was raised on Saturday night.
“The community really is supportive of the Shell Hall,” said Whaley.
The Shell Valley Volunteer Fire Department drew the winning ticket in its 50/50 raffle.  Carol Wiltse of Meeteetse was the winner, pocketing $8,000.  The other $8,000 went to the fire department.
