State football championships on line this weekend
Five teams will look to apply the finishing touches to unbeaten seasons when the state football championships are decided this weekend at War Memorial Stadium on the University of Wyoming campus.
The matchup in the Class 1A, nine-man classification — where the Buffaloes roam — will pit 10-0 Lingle-Fort Laramie against 9-1 Pine Bluffs. It was the Hornets who ended Greybull’s season in the quarters.
The contest is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
In the two Friday games, 10-0 Big Horn meets 7-3 Cokeville for the 2A title at noon and 11-0 Star Valley clashes with 9-1 Cody for the 3A crown at 3 p.m.
In addition to the nine-man game, Saturday’s slate will begin at 10 a.m. with the 1A six-man game between 9-0 Little Snake River and 8-1 Burlington and end at 4 p.m. with the 4A showdown between 11-0 Sheridan and 9-2 Cheyenne East.
