Town admin resigns
Hunt spent nearly four years in role
The town of Greybull will be losing its administrator/finance director at the end of the month.
Carrie Hunt, who has held the position since August of 2021, is returning to Big Horn Rural Electric Company, where she worked before joining the town. The council accepted her resignation during a special meeting Monday, Feb. 24 at Town Hall.
Hunt said Big Horn’s new general manager approached her about returning. A 2000 graduate of GHS, she joined Big Horn soon after earning an accounting degree from the University of Wyoming and spent the next 16 years there.
“I really loved the cooperative world — it’s where I started my career,” Hunt said. “I like the town world, too, but there’s quite a difference between the two, public versus private. I prefer the private world.”
She called her nearly four years with the town “eye-opening,” adding, “There are so many different aspects to being in charge of a town. It’s a challenge. But was good — don’t get me wrong. I learned so much and grew a lot.”
Starting next week, Hunt will split her time 50/50 between the town and Big Horn, with her final day being March 31.
Mayor Myles Foley said, “We’re in the process of gathering applications and plan to start interviews the week of the 17th. Hopefully we can find a candidate who fits the shoes because the shoes will be hard to fit.
“Carrie did an awesome job for the town and was a real asset. She got us a lot of grant money, did a great job selling lots and keeping our personnel together. We’re going to miss her.”
Foley added that the town’s looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree in accounting along with experience dealing with people, which is a must for an administrator.
The next meeting of the town council is Monday, March 10.
