WANTED: New voices, fresh ideas for chamber
The Greybull Area Chamber of Commerce is looking to recruit board members. With the capacity for 11 on its board, the chamber is currently run by only six.
“The biggest reason that we want more [board members] is so that we get a bigger pool of fresh ideas on how we can help benefit our businesses and the community,” Chamber President Robert Skillman said.
“Anybody who’s got a business here can benefit from being a part of the board and helping the chamber decide how it’s going to allocate our budgeted amount of money to help other businesses in this town.”
Greybull’s Chamber of Commerce separated from the town about two years ago and has operated independently since. In order to do that, it relies on volunteers.
“Our goal this year is to make sure that we can continue with the things that we have already established and find more volunteers to help with those things so that they can be better because we really wore ourselves out last year. We are really trying to get more people involved so that it doesn’t lie on just one person’s shoulders to do everything,” Skillman said. Other in-the-works chamber activity includes pursuing grant funding for wayfinding signs in Greybull and expanding membership for the chamber’s business directory.
Those interested in serving on the board should submit their name by the end of the month, with the election period to run through December. Prospects should email greybullchamber.web@gmail.com with a short note on their interest and background.
The chamber internally re-elects positions annually, with Skillman reporting he will again vie for president.
Those hoping to get their business in the 2026 directory should sign up for chamber membership. Fees have remained the same from last year, with pricing from individuals to 10-employee businesses available. Sponsor packages support the chamber’s annual events: the holiday light contest, mixers and BrewFest.
Other benefits include online advertising via the chamber’s website, social media and email newsletter.
