Blackburn named Western States Sheriff of the Year

Big Horn County Sheriff Ken Blackburn was named Sheriff of the Year by the Western States Sheriffs’ Association during the organization’s annual conference on March 4 in Reno, Nevada.

Pastor Gesch sworn in as Highway Patrol chaplain

Basin’s Aaron Gesch was recently sworn in as a Wyoming Highway Patrol chaplain, a duty he described as a “natural” avenue. Gesch, the pastor at First Baptist Church of Basin, will now also serve Wyoming Highway Patrol Troop G – Big Horn, Park, Washakie and Hot Springs counties.

Students gathered in Greybull Wednesday, March 11 for the Region #1 National History Day competition, demonstrating their research, creativity, and historical thinking skills through a variety of projects centered on this year’s theme: “Revolution, Reaction, and Reform.”

GHS students place at state speech meet

Greybull High School’s speech and debate team was unable to attend regionals last week due to a bout of sickness, meaning none of the team members will be attending nationals this year. However, the state meet over the weekend saw two Buffs on the podium.
