Give us this day our daily bread in the so-called Lord’s Prayer seems out of place in a prayer devoted to spiritual things:  Father in heaven, Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven, Forgive us our debts/trespasses as we forgive those who trespass (debtors) against us.  The only piece of the prayer that sounds like we are to ask for food each day doesn’t track.

At last month's meeting, the Big Horn County School District No. 3 board of trustees opened a 45-day window for the public to comment on how it should respond to the state's new gun law, which went into effect July 1.

100 Years Ago

Bruce Kennedy knocked on my front door on a hot day in July 1971 and said the Greybull Standard was in dire need of a typist. He’d heard I was fast and accurate and wondered, would I be willing to come in two days a week, 9 to 5, and help them out?  After a “family consultation,” I went in the following Monday — and 54 years later, I am still employed by the Standard. I sometimes can’t believe it.
