Dear editor:
I probably should have sent this for the last edition. However, I needed a little time to cool down.
How would most business owners feel if their first knowledge of regulations and pending taxation was found in the newspaper?  Angry, I suppose. A simple call or letter would suffice. We have been contacted in the past!

Advent makes us wait for that which has already come

Advent is about waiting; not so much about waiting for Christmas, for there really is none of that during Advent, no waiting for Christmas. The world cannot wait, and so, to the world, it has been Christmas for quite a while already. Well, there are those who know that there is a thing called “Advent”, and call their pre-Christmas Christmas activities “Advent”, probably out of a sense that it sounds more Christian.

 Just looked at the calendar, and it really is Dec. 4.  Advent is upon us. Spent three days last week in Tongue River, combining doctor’s appointment in Livingston, with some fun in TR and Sheridan.

Many years ago, our government teamed up with the universities, colleges and special interest groups and introduced science into our wildlife and its habitats. Since this time, especially over the last 30 years, our deer herds, upland game birds and our waterfowl populations have been and still are being depleted.

Desperately needed property tax relief is on its way

Dear citizens of Big Horn County:
One of the biggest issues we are currently facing statewide is crippling property taxes. Thank you for reaching out to me to express your concerns regarding these increases we all continue to face.
Speaking recently with our legislative leadership, one of the proposals we are having drafted is a plan which will cap annual increases at 5%. You will no longer have to worry about 20% or 40% increases or guess what your new taxes will be the next year.

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday.  A time to reflect on the year past; no real decorating to do, gifts to buy, just a time to think about all the blessings that we are afforded just because we are lucky to be living in the most wonderful country of the world.
“Land of the Free and Home of the Brave” are more than just words to be mouthed; they describe the luxury we have, the privilege of living where those words are actually true.

Thanksgiving is such an integral part of our lives as believers.  Thanksgiving is one of the gates to God’s presence in the throne room (Psalm 100:4 and Isaiah 60:18).
The sacrifice of praise we offer God continually is the fruit or words of our lips giving thanks to his name (Hebrews 13:15).
God’s will in Christ Jesus concerning us is to give thanks to God in everything (1 Thessalonians 5:18) preventing circumstances from defining our measure of faith (Romans 12:3).

Asking for trouble when boys allowed to play girls sports

For the three weeks I was out of commission, I was out of commission on current events. The aides at Sheridan were unable to solve my problem. The only station I was able to get, on my own, was Rapid City.  Finally did get to watch one football game and game one of the World Series, but no current events at all.
