Open Mic Night raises over $1,000 for Saddles in Service

Bob’s Diner raised over $1,000 on Saturday, Jan. 27, to benefit the non-profit organization Saddles In Service (SIS), represented locally by Tom Bercher of Shell.
“This is the third time we have hosted an open mic for charity,” remarked Robbie Skillman as he and his son Josiah closed the night’s festivities with a three-song set. “And every time, this community shows up.”

Feb. 24 benefit set for Powell teen with rare form of cancer

A Feb. 24 fundraiser is planned for a 15-year-old girl from Powell who was recently diagnosed with a rare, aggressive and hard-to-treat form of cancer.
Pazlee Rose Sheeley may not be a familiar name to many, but her family is well known in the Big Horn Basin and particularly in rodeo circles.  Cassi Lohr is her mother and Mike Lohr is her stepfather.

GHS speech team finds success in Big Horn

The Greybull High School speech team traveled over the mountain last weekend to capture a second-place finish in 1A/2A at the Big Horn Invitational.
Several Greybull students posted strong performances. Grainger Russell led the charge, breaking into finals in two of his three events to take first in Program Oral Interpretation and second in Humor. Tyler Searfoss also battled his way to finals in Congressional Debate and finished in seventh place.

7:18 a.m.: Officers patrolled the school zone.
10:47 a.m.: Officers assisted the public at Three Rivers Health.
11:44 p.m.: Officers performed an extra patrol at Greybull Park on South Second Street.
Jan. 23 — 1:21 a.m.: Officers uncovered a scam at the Maverik Country Store.

Jan. 22 — 1:35 p.m.: Deputies investigated a potential scam at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin.
2:20 p.m.: Deputies on Highway 14 in Shell took information about a parked semi leaking fluid.
Jan. 23 — 1:21 a.m.: On North Sixth Street in Greybull, deputies investigated a potential scam at Maverik Country Store.
9:41 a.m.: Deputies assisted the county attorney’s office at Big Horn County Courthouse on C Street in Basin.
11:05 a.m.: Deputies at BHCSO assisted an individual requesting information about skunks for sale.

The first basketball game of the year will be played tonight, Friday, January 25, at the high school gym. Mr. Yates assured us that the boys are coming along fine and that the game will be a “fight to the finish.” Billings has one of the best basketball teams in the state of Montana, but Greybull is also on the map.

CHEYENNE (WNE) — The December 2023 issue of the Wyoming MACRO Report is available at the state of Wyoming’s Economic Analysis Division website, eadiv.state.wy.us/.
The MACRO Report is a quarterly publication that consists of charts focusing on employment, energy, state revenues and other indicators providing an overview of Wyoming’s economy.
Highlights from this quarter’s issue include:
• Year-over-year total jobs in the state are up 2.9% (+8,400) in the month of November 2023.

Gasoline prices continue to fall in Wyoming, across the country

CHEYENNE (WNE) — Average gasoline prices in Wyoming have fallen 8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.67 a gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy.com’s survey of 494 stations in Wyoming.
Prices in Wyoming are 16.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, and stand 59.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 2.1 cents in the last week and stands at $3.87 per gallon.

GHS students excel at Northern Wyoming Regional Science Fair

Greybull students found plenty of success at the Northern Wyoming Regional Science Fair on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Greybull had six projects in the fair, with all earning some form of recognition.
