Jan. 16 — 7:29 a.m.: On North Sixth Street in Greybull, deputies initiated a business check at Maverik Country Store.
9:35 a.m.: Deputies took information about a missing person at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin.

Wrestlers punch above their weight at large-school meet in Lander

Curtis Strohschein won the heavyweight division, Ty Strohschein captured second at 175 and Loomis Alexander took third at 138 pounds to lead the surging Greybull-Riverside wrestling squad to a ninth-place finish at last weekend’s Lander Invitational.
The tournament attracted 26 varsity boys teams, with the majority being either 3A or 4A.  The only 2A teams that topped G-R’s 80 points were Thermopolis, which took seventh with 113, and Kemmerer, eighth with 111.5.
“We wrestled a heck of a tournament,” said Coach Rob Nuttall.

Three Rivers prioritizes new telemetry system

Three Rivers Health’s revenues topped expenditures for a second straight month in December, providing another sign that the healthcare organization, which frequently tapped its reserves to cover operational costs last year, is trending toward more solid financial footing.
Michael Garza, manager of the TRH finance department, told the board on Wednesday night that the net gain for December was $74,271.  In November, it was $303,229.  Prior to that, TRH had consistently seen its expenditures top revenues.

GHS Speech takes second at Worland Beach Invite

The Greybull High School speech team tested its mettle against 22 schools at the Worland Beach Invitational last weekend, finishing second in a 1A/2A sweepstakes indicative of future state competition.
“The Worland meet was almost a practice run for state with the 1A/2A programs, as all but two were competing,” said coach Joel Kuper. Only 10 Greybull members competed at the meet, but Kuper said his team “brought their best for the event…amidst some very tough competition.”

Museum supporters seek BHC support for expansion project

A group representing the Big Horn Basin Dinosaur and Geoscience Center, Greybull Town Council and the Greybull Museum appeared before the Big Horn County Commission on Jan. 16.
Nolan O’Neal spoke first, explaining that they were working to get a world class display of local fossil treasures. “There are three headlines here.  The first one just sets the stage. This basin has a unique place in history and science.”
The commissioners were given a handout that showed the four dinosaur casts the museums are pursuing.

Short on volunteer firefighters and EMTs? These bills could help

Amid funding and staffing pressures at emergency medical service agencies across Wyoming, two bills this legislative session aim to help attract more volunteers.
The Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Committee voted nearly unanimously to sponsor two bills for this session: Senate File 3 – State employee leave for volunteer fire or volunteer EMS and Senate File 8 – Health insurance for volunteer emergency responders.

This is a question being asked many times since the Lions Club advertised the popularity contest to be staged at the benefit dance being given by the athletic committee of that organization Wednesday, Feb. 6 at the Grand Palace. Whoever the winner of the contest may be, she cannot help but be pleased, as she will have seven different articles to select from.
