Helen Lucile Crane

June 28, 1924 - June 24, 2020

Helen Lucile Crane passed away peacefully on June 24, 2020, four days before her 96th birthday, at the home of her daughter, Alice Yothers, in Valley Springs, Calif.  Having been a longtime resident of Basin, Wyo., Helen returned to her native California in 2017 to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Wilson Dale Crane and their young daughter Edith Lucile Crane.  She is survived by her daughters Barbara Rountree (Robert) of Cody, and Alice Yothers (Steven) and her sons Sidney Crane (Susan) of Chico, Calif., Stephen Crane (Doris) of Basin, Wyo., and Martin Crane (Ariadne) of Peach Tree City, Ga., as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Julie Ann Zierolf

Sept. 18, 1963 - Oct. 16, 2020

Julie Ann Zierolf, 57, was called home to join her heavenly family on the evening of October 16, 2020; she was in the comfort of her own home and surrounded by loved ones.

Julie was born in Sandusky, Ohio on September 18, 1963. She lived in Greybull for most of her life, lighting the town up with her wicked sense of humor.

An outgoing, fun-loving, high-spirited, passionate woman, Julie had a huge heart and an even bigger personality. She could sing along with every song on the radio and always put others' needs ahead of her own. 

Renee Frances Thornton Naylor

Aug. 12, 1949 - Oct. 22, 2020

Renee Frances Thornton Naylor of Basin, Wyo., went to be with our Heavenly Father on Oct. 22, 2020, at Spirit Mountain Hospice, from pancreatic cancer. Renee was 71.

Renee was born Aug. 12, 1949, in Afton, Wyo., to Evonne Nettie Daniels Thornton and Wayne Campbell Thornton. She graduated from Big Piney High School in 1967. A week later after graduating she married and was blessed with three children: Ronae Lynn Skiver, Ronald “Ty” Skiver and Sy James Skiver. In October of 1980, Renee met Emory Naylor and they were married in 1986, adding Nettie Louise Naylor Hohnhorst to the family.

Peggy Joyce (Scogin) Elliott was born June 3, 1941, in Texas to Richard and Amelia Marie Scogin.

Lola Temme

June 20, 1920 - Oct. 9, 2020

Lola Temme, age 100 was called to her eternal home on Oct. 9, 2020. Lola was born on June 20, 1920, in Gurley, Neb., the daughter of Edwin and Martha Aurich.  She was a lifetime member of The Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, was baptized on June 27, 1920, and confirmed on April 29, 1934.  She was raised in Potter, Neb., along with two sisters and two brothers, and loved to tell stories of going to school in a buggy drawn by a stubborn horse named Dan.

 She married Ralph Temme in June 1943. They lived in Emblem, Wyo., for 45 years where Ralph served as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem and Grace Lutheran Church in Greybull. Lola served faithfully for 45 years as a supportive pastor’s wife serving on and a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and many other committees. Upon Ralph’s retirement in 1988, they moved to Billings, Mont.

Velma Roxy Garland Bulvin

July 19, 1918 - Oct. 6, 2020

Velma Roxy Garland Bulvin, age 102, passed away at the Laramie Care Center in Laramie, Wyo., on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020. Velma was born on July 19, 1918, to Thomas and Roxy Milner Salsbury in a farmhouse in Republic County, Kan.  She was the middle child of five girls.

Velma grew up on a farm in rural Kansas where she attended school in Neosha Falls, and graduated from high school in LeRoy, Kan. As a child she would fish in a local river using a stick, some string and a hook. She eventually caught a 48-pound catfish on a ‘limb line.' Velma taught school for two years in rural Kansas before marrying her high school sweetheart, Robert James Garland, Jr. on April 17, 1938 in Iola, Kan. Velma and Robert moved to Greybull in 1942 where they raised their four children, Tom, Donna, Wilma and Bill. They celebrated 60 years of marriage shortly before Robert’s death in 1998.

Greybull native Bonnie Rice Kuhry passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 12 in Yuma, Ariz.

Richard Byron Whaley

Dec. 1, 1932 - Sept. 29, 2020

Longtime Shell Creek resident and local historian, Richard Byron Whaley, age 87, told his last story the evening of Sept. 29.  A short time later, on the morning of Sept. 30, he peacefully took his last breath to the sound of a very dear friend’s voice on the phone, with his daughter Cynthia at his side.

Survivors… oh where to begin!  Richard is survived by his present wife Judy, and her sons Ken and Kevin (Leslie) Wall and Richard’s daughter Cynthia and son-in-law Guy Lanahan, and their son Zachary Knox.  Special nephew, Jack Wright, did not let something like divorce keep him from being close to his uncle Richard.  They shared many drives from Shell to Cody, with Richard chatting the miles away.

Ha’den Gasvoda Kelso

Nov. 24, 1997 - Oct. 3, 2020

This world became a better place on Nov. 24, 1997, when Ha’den Gasvoda Kelso was born in Worland, Wyo.  Ha’den was full of life with a sparkle in his eye and an “up-to-no-good” grin from a young age.  He loved working at the family farm with Grandpa Jim, Uncle George and his dad — from irrigating to pushing tires around, pretending there was a motor in the tire. 

Ha’den attended elementary school in Burlington and Greybull, graduating from Greybull High School in 2016.  Ha’den played basketball and football in junior high, swam with the Blue Dolphins, played AAU soccer, competed in youth rodeos and participated in 4-H.  His passion was farming with his family and special friends, the Aguilars.

Pearl Ann Hart Snell

Pearl Ann Hart Snell has joined her husband, Russ, and her son, Lynn. She left this earth peacefully in St. George, Utah, on Sept. 29, 2020, while holding her daughter Leann’s hand.

She was a strong and sometimes stubborn woman. She fought long and hard through the tragedies of the past two years and finally decided she’d had enough. She was tired and needed to go home. She missed Russ, Lynn, her parents and her sister, Ila.
