April 29 — 10:20 a.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop at South Big Horn County Airport on Hercules Road in Greybull. A warning was issued.
10:48 a.m.: Deputies at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin assisted community relations.
11:57 a.m.: On Highway 433/Road 31.5 in Manderson, deputies responded to a fire on a river bottom.
12:27 p.m.: Deputies performed a welfare check at BHCSO.
8:39 p.m.: Deputies on South Fourth Street/Big Horn Avenue in Basin initiated a traffic stop. A warning was issued.

Apr. 29 — 7:36 a.m.: Officers patrolled the school zone.
Apr. 30 3:53 p.m.: Officers assisted a member of the public at Big Horn Federal Savings Bank.
8:52 p.m.: Officers received a complaint regarding a green Ford Taurus driving erratically with no headlights on Highway 14A.
May 1 — 7:32 a.m.: Officers patrolled the school zone.
2:49 p.m.: Officers patrolled the school zone.
3:53 p.m.: Officers responded to two toddlers who were accidentally locked inside of a vehicle on Greybull Avenue.

Wyoming Food Bank announces dates of mobile foot pantry distributions at fairgrounds
The Wyoming Food Bank’s mobile pantry distribution dates for May are May 11 and May 25. The location is the fairgrounds in Basin. It starts at 10 a.m. It is not income based.
It is on a first-come, first-serve basis until the food is gone.

Six cited for selling tobacco to underage persons in BHC

A check of 14 randomly selected businesses conducted in March found six employees of Big Horn County businesses in violation of a law that prohibits selling tobacco products to persons under the age of 21. According to Big Horn County Sheriff Ken Blackburn, this is an extremely high number, almost unheard of in previous checks.
The sheriff’s department does tobacco and alcohol checks twice a year.

Bring ‘em Home: Museum director makes fundraising pitch to community, provides updates

On Monday, April 29, the board of the Big Horn Basin Dinosaur and Geoscience Museum  [BHBDGM} convened to provide an update to the public on its project planning, development, and goal-setting. In a presentation led by Dr. Erik Kvale, President, the board walked through such particulars as the who, what, and why, and made their case for greater community outreach and involvement.

Buff Ranch preps for annual plant sale

Greybull High School students will be opening Buff Ranch to the public next weekend for their annual flower and plant sale starting on Friday, May 10.
The Buff Ranch property has been held by District 3 for many years and used by its student body for agriculture and animal science courses. Jennifer Schultz, who teaches science at Greybull High School, credits Dean Waddell and his Special Education students for its early development.
