Rodriguez, Atilano spark JV girls past Wind River

Sophomore Jasmine Rodriguez scored 14 points and senior Angie Atilano contributed 13 to help the Greybull Lady Buff JV defeat Wind River 65-21 and salvage a weekend split Saturday in Pavillion.  
Coach Nate Boyer said the girls “really wanted to come out strong” after a four-point loss to Rocky Mountain, 38-34, the previous evening.

Sanford, Strohschein, Alexander and Bertolini win Don Runner titles

Lady Buffs seek consistency as conference season begins

Unfortunately, you can’t blame everything on the weather, and Coach Jeff Hunt, assessing the Greybull Lady Buffs’ two losses last weekend at the Big Horn Basin Classic, didn’t consider blaming anyone. His sole comment was, “We had another tough weekend. We struggled against the press and just couldn’t get anything going on offense.”

Rodriguez joins 1,000 point club

Greybull High School senior Carlos Rodriguez joined the 1,000-point club during his team’s game against Burlington Friday night at the Big Horn Basin Hoops Classic.

A four-year starter, he finished the night with 31 points.

Lady Buff JV improves to 5-3

Junior Mya Oatman scored six and sophomores Camila Acuna and Shayne Cheatham each chipped in five to lead the Greybull  Lady Buff junior varsity team to a 28-16 win over St. Stephens in a two-quarter game played Saturday afternoon.
“It’s tough to get going in a two-quarter game, but we saw a lot of growth with our underclassmen,” said Nathan Boyer, the team’s coach. “The plays are starting to stick and we were able to produce some scoring off the transition.”

Lady Buffs split weekend games

The Greybull Lady Buffs split their first homestand of the season, losing to Wyoming Indian 66-28 on Friday night before bouncing back to trounce St. Stephens by a nearly identical score of 66-26 on Saturday afternoon.
The two outcomes left the Buffs with a 2-8 record which they will take into this weekend’s Big Horn Basin Classic hosted by Rocky Mountain and Powell high schools.

G-R takes second in Shoshoni

Greybull-Riverside won five of seven duals last weekend, placing second at both the Big Horn County Dual Championships Friday in Lovell and at the Wrangler Duals Saturday in Shoshoni.
Coach Rob Nuttall said his team defeated Rocky Mountain but lost to Lovell at the annual county showdown.
Against the Grizzlies, G-R lost just a single match, at 132 pounds.
