Rodriguez climbs career scoring list

In his final game for the Buffs, Greybull High School senior Carlos Rodriguez moved into second place on the school’s all-time scoring list.
Rodriguez finished his stellar career with 1,337 points, surpassing the career total of Treston Tracy, who scored 1,336 points while playing for the Buffs between 2012 and 2016.
Mike Koller holds the school record for career points with 1,729.  He was a senior on the 1996 team that captured the school’s first ever state championship in the sport.

Greybull High School senior Joel Miller has signed a letter of intent to continue his football playing career at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont., where he intends to major in health and human performance.

The Greybull Buffs won just a single game last week, but that victory was the one that they needed to clinch the regular season conference championship and secure a No. 1 seed for the Class 2A West Regional that begins today in Riverton.

A weekend sweep of Rocky Mountain and Wind River has put the Greybull Buffs in position to capture the Class 2A Northwest Conference championship, which they can do this weekend with a win over Shoshoni.
Coach Logan Burningham’s team overcame a shaky start in Cowley Friday night, using a 12-0 run late in the third quarter as a springboard to a 61-52 win and followed that up with a dominant performance in a 62-35 win over the Cougars on Saturday to improve to 5-0 in league play.

Lady Buffs fall to Rocky, Wind River; host Shoshoni Friday

This weekend marks the end of the regular season for the Lady Buffs.  After falling to Rocky Mountain 49-22 in Cowley last Friday, they hosted Wind River Saturday and played a much better game but fell to the Lady Cougars, 60-48.
The Buffs started out playing pretty good ball at Cowley, trailing 11-7 at the first quarter break. But things went sideways after that. Rocky scored in double digits in all four quarters, while Greybull was having trouble getting any shots to fall.

GMS teams rack up wins in regular season finales

After solid finishes to the regular season, Greybull Middle School’s A and B teams have momentum at their backs heading into this weekend’s conference tournaments.  The A team will be heading to the eight-grade tournament in Burlington while the B team stays home to host the seventh-grade tournament.
Cadance Wipplinger, who coaches the A team, expects her team to get a No. 4 seed, behind Rocky Mountain, Burlington and Shoshoni.   As of Tuesday afternoon, the tournament bracket had not been released.

With just a single dual and that being a Thursday night affair, Greybull-Riverside wrestlers spent the final weekend of the regular season at home, recuperating from injuries and illnesses and recharging their batteries for their first big test of the season.
The Class 2A West Regional is Saturday in Shoshoni, and while every team looks forward to competing under the bright lights of the Ford Wyoming Center, what happens at regional tournaments will either help or hurt a wrestler’s chances of success.
